O Abu al-Qasim, my heart
Is consumed by love and enthralled by you.
May my father be ransom for your difficult mount,
The one that is impossible to tame.
And for two hips that incline and sway,
Just as the heavy, heaped clouds sway.
And for a side-lock adorned
By the downy hair acting as a bridle.
You are delightful, yet abstinence from
Kissing your cheeks is a sin.
So declare to me: are you a maiden with swelling breasts,
Or are you a young boy?
