لَقَدindeed قامَhas arisen خَيرُthe best of الناسِpeople مِنfrom بَعدِafter خَيرِهِمtheir best
لَقَد قامَ خَيرُ الناسِ مِن بَعدِ خَيرِهِم
فَلَيسَso there is no عَلىagainst الأَيّامِthe days وَالدَهرِand time مَعتَبُcause for reproach
فَلَيسَ عَلى الأَيّامِ وَالدَهرِ مَعتَبُ
Indeed, the best of men has arisen after their best,
The best of people has arisen, succeeding the best of them,
so there is no reproach against the days and time.
So against the days and fate, there is no ground for complaint.
فَأَضحىso has become أَميرُcommander of المُؤمِنينَthe faithful مُحَمَّدٌMuhammad
فَأَضحى أَميرُ المُؤمِنينَ مُحَمَّدٌ
وَماand there is no بَعدَهُbeyond him لِلطالِبِfor the seeker of الخَيرِgoodness مَطلَبُobject of pursuit
وَما بَعدَهُ لِلطالِبِ الخَيرِ مَطلَبُ
Thus Muhammad has become Commander of the Faithful,
Muhammad has become the Commander of the Faithful,
and beyond him the seeker of goodness has nothing to seek.
And beyond him, the seeker of good has no further goal.

May calamities forever remain far apart from you,
and may you ever be sweet and delightful in hearts.
And may you remain sweet and delightful within our hearts.

Yours is the white clay of the House of Hashim,
Yours is the pure white clay of the House of Hashim,
and you, though they are pure, are more chaste and purer still.
And you—though they were noble—are more chaste and pure.
