ركوبُ خرائدٍ بين الخيام

ركوبُ خرائدٍ بين الخيام

Indeed, sweeter to me than riding horses

More savory to me than the riding of horses

Is riding fair maidens among the tents.

Is the riding of maidens amidst the tents,

وأزينُ من هوى بازٍ وصقر

وأزينُ من هوى بازٍ وصقر

ولعبٍ بالديوكِ وبالحمامِ

ولعبٍ بالديوكِ وبالحمامِ

And lovelier than a passion for a goshawk and a falcon,

And fairer than the passion for hawk and falcon,

And playing with roosters and pigeons,

Or the sporting with gamecocks and doves,

ومن طعنِ الرماحِ ونعتِ حربٍ

ومن طعنِ الرماحِ ونعتِ حربٍ

وصبر عند تجريد الحسامِ

وصبر عند تجريد الحسامِ

And than spear-thrusting and describing war,

And more than the thrust of spears and the tales of war,

And steadfastness when the sword is drawn,

Or steadfastness when the sword is unsheathed,

هوى مدخورةٍ في بيتِ علجٍ

هوى مدخورةٍ في بيتِ علجٍ

ونيكُ بناتهِ تحت الظلام

ونيكُ بناتهِ تحت الظلام

Is passion for a secluded woman in a non-Arab's house,

Is the desire for a sequestered prize in a lout's abode,

And fucking his daughters beneath the darkness.

And bedding his daughters beneath the dark.
