إِنّيindeed I أَتَيتُكُمُcame to you all مِنَfrom القَبرِthe grave
وَالناسُand the people مُحتَبِسونَheld back لِلحَشرِfor the Gathering
Indeed, I have come to you from the grave,
I have come to you from the grave
I have come to you returning from the grave,
While the people are held awaiting the Gathering.
While people are detained for the resurrection
While others wait confined for Judgment Day.
لَولاwere it not for أَبوAbu (father of) العَبّاسِal-Abbas ماnot نَظَرَتlooked
عَينيmy eye إِلىupon وَلَدٍa child وَلاnor وَفرِwealth
But for Abu al-Abbas, never would
If it were not for Abu al-Abbas I would not have seen
Were it not for Abu al-Abbas, my eye
My eye have looked upon a child or wealth.
My eyes looking upon a son or kinsman
Would not have looked on children or on wealth.
اللَهُGod أَلبَسَنيclothed me بِهِthrough him نِعَماًblessings
شَغَلَتoccupied جَسامَتُهاtheir immensity يَديthe two hands of شُكريmy gratitude
Through him, God clothed me in blessings;
God has clothed me through him with bounties
Through him, God robed me in such benefits,
Their immensity kept both hands of my gratitude busy.
Whose greatness has kept my hands busy with gratitude
Their weight preoccupied my hand of thanks.
لُقِّنتُهاI was taught them مِنby مُفهِمٍan instructor فَهِمٍdiscerning
فَعَقَدتُهاso I counted them بِأَنامِلٍwith fingertips عَشرِten
I was taught them by a discerning instructor,
I was taught by one who understands, understands well
I learned this from a sage of deep insight,
So I counted them off on ten fingertips.
So I grasped them with ten fingers
And knotted it with all ten fingertips.
