رَأَيتُ هَوايَ سيرَتُهُ الوَجيفُ

رَأَيتُ هَوايَ سيرَتُهُ الوَجيفُ

وَتَحزِبُني إِذا اِعتَرَضَت ثَقيفُ

وَتَحزِبُني إِذا اِعتَرَضَت ثَقيفُ

I found my desire's course to be a swift gallop.

I saw my love, his ways are rotten,

I saw the pace of my desire is a frantic drive,

And I am troubled when Thaqif bars the way.

And Thaqif tribe riles me when our paths have crossed,

And I am beset by trouble when Thaqif obstructs the way,

فَإِن آتي وَذَلِكَ بَعدَ كَدٍّ

فَإِن آتي وَذَلِكَ بَعدَ كَدٍّ

فَدارُ مُحَمَّدٍ ثُمَّ الوُقوفُ

فَدارُ مُحَمَّدٍ ثُمَّ الوُقوفُ

So if I arrive—and that after toil—

And if after struggle, I come to you,

So if I arrive—and that is only after heavy toil—

Then Muhammad's house, and then a halt.

The home of Muhammad, there I'll stop.

Then to Muhammad's house, and there the final halt.
