وَلِرامٍ فَضلٌ عَلى الأَيّامِ
Give us a drink—for our day is Rām's day,
Quench us, for our day is a day of pleasure,
Pour for us, for our day is the day of Ram,
And Rām surpasses the other days—
And for pleasure is a merit over days.
And Ram holds favor above all other days;

شوقِ في وَجهِ عاشِقٍ بِاِبتِسامِ
Of wine more delightful than the gaze
With a drink sweeter than the gaze of the beloved,

Of the beloved into a lover's face, with a smile.
Yearning in the face of a lover with a smile.
Directed at a lover's face with a smile;

نَبوَةَ السَمعِ عَن شَنيعِ الكَلامِ
Not coarse wine from which one's nature recoils,
Not harsh which nature warns against,
Not coarse, that one's nature would recoil from,
As hearing recoils from offensive speech.
A warning of hearing against the ugly talk.
As the hearing recoils from hideous speech;

A daughter of ten years, grown clear and fine—were she
A girl of ten described and softened, so if she was poured,
Daughter of ten years, pure and fine—if poured
Poured upon the night, all darkness would vanish.
Over the night, all the darkness would be removed.
Upon the night, all darkness would depart;

In garden quarters the dew shone early,
In spring gardens visited early by the star,
Upon them with pouring clouds,
Upon it with the advent of the clouds.
Which cast upon them the pouring clouds;

Savoring the wine of the assembly.
Sipping the royal wine of Khosrow;

And from its yield they have marigolds,
And for them from its essence are servants,
With marigolds plucked from the garden's store,
Which they have set where pens are placed.
Who have set it in places of pens.
Placed behind their ears like scribal pens.
