أَميرَ المُؤمِنينَ وَأَنتَ عَفوٌ

أَميرَ المُؤمِنينَ وَأَنتَ عَفوٌ

وَما لَكَ في الخَلائِقِ مِن ضَريبِ

وَما لَكَ في الخَلائِقِ مِن ضَريبِ

Commander of the Faithful, you are forgiving,

Commander of the Faithful while you are forgiving

O Commander of the Faithful, vast is your pardon,

and among all creation you have no peer.

And you have no share in creations to collect tax

And in all creation, you stand without a peer;

عَلامَ وَأَنتَ ذو حَزمٍ وَرَأيٍ

عَلامَ وَأَنتَ ذو حَزمٍ وَرَأيٍ

تُصَيِّرُ أَمرَ مِصرَ إِلى الخَصيبِ

تُصَيِّرُ أَمرَ مِصرَ إِلى الخَصيبِ

Why, when you possess resolve and sound judgment,

Why do you while having wisdom and opinion

Why then, when you are possessed of resolve and wisdom,

do you entrust Egypt's affairs to al-Khasib—

Make Egypt's command to el-Khasib

Do you consign the command of Egypt to Al-Khasib?

فَتىً ما دانَ لِلرَحمَنِ ديناً

فَتىً ما دانَ لِلرَحمَنِ ديناً

وَما إِن زالَ يَسجُدُ لِلصَليبِ

وَما إِن زالَ يَسجُدُ لِلصَليبِ

a man who has never professed faith in the Merciful,

A young man who never submitted to the Most Merciful

A knave who professes no creed to the All-Merciful,

and has never ceased prostrating himself before the cross?

And one who still bows to the cross

And who ceases not to prostrate before the Cross.
