    لَ بَينَ الناسِ عَيناهُ

    And a gazelle—lifespans are apportioned

    among people by his eyes;

and anguish and sorrows are kindled

in the heart by his front teeth.

And the moon at its fullness is mirrored

before the eyes by his cheeks.

    Exalted be God! How beautiful

    is what God has fashioned!

    And were Beauty itself embodied

as a person, it would not surpass him.

He has a hereafter that indeed

resembles his worldly life in beauty.

So if we were to deny God

one day, we would surely worship him.

I would give my life for him! When distance

    hides him from my eyes,

it is enough for me that the darkness of night

    covers me and covers him.
