You have been unhurried out of forbearance, O Patient One; and only

until an appointed term is just punishment deferred.

You have been unhurried in seizing the disobedient, out of kindness

and gentleness, and have not seized a rebel in haste.

And beyond Your patience, You have settled them in an abode

of goodness in this world, despite their sin.

As though their sins were means to Your favor!

Exalted are You! This is the height of generosity.

And You see their secret and their open deeds,

as they disobey You, O God, without fear.

Exalted are You! This patience is the patience of deliberation,

befitting the dignity of Your station as the Self-Sufficient.

Exalted are You! The haste of one who hurries has not impelled You

to act before the appointed time.

Rather, the decree, its measures known, has proceeded

along the fixed paths of Your will.

Thus, delaying what You have delayed is forbearance granting respite,

and advancing what You have advanced is not haste,

so that You may place what You decree at its due time,

as You deem fitting for the matter,

without struggling against any impulse opposing

Your supreme will, and without hardship.
