Praise be to God—no misery and no sickness.

Glory was healed when you were healed, and generosity too.

From the robes of gracious favor, you have donned health.

And pain has passed from you to your enemies.

Excellence now rests easy, and revived

By your good health are spirits and aspirations,

After my soul had wearied of life, as

It had been alarmed for you when sickness laid you low.

May my soul ransom you, O master of verse, for indeed

Your qualities are too exalted for words to praise.

Who can rival you in poetic meter and noble deeds,

Or who can equal you, when today you have surpassed them?

A sea, hallowed through the stages of its growth—

Oh, how splendid the sea, with wisdom in its current!

O most generous of people, graciously grant me your favor,

For you are the most generous of those a mouth praises.
