ويا رافعاً من شاءه برشاده

O You who raise whomever You will by Your right guidance,

And O You who raise whomever You will through Your guidance,

by nearness, felicity, and purity;

ورفعك من تخص سبق مشيئة

ورفعك من تخص سبق مشيئة

ولا بد من انفاذ أمر المشيئة

Your raising of those You single out was preceded by an act of will,

and the command of that will must be carried out.

ويا رافعاً بالعلم أهل ولائه

على درجات في الحظوظ رفيعة

O You who raise through knowledge those devoted to You

to lofty degrees in their allotted portions;

ويا رافع الأقدار بالعلم والعلى

إذا كان تقوى اللّه اس البنية

O You who raise ranks through knowledge and eminence,

And O You who exalt ranks through knowledge and eminence,

when reverence for God is the foundation of the edifice;

ويا رافعاً من نال نعماه بالغنى

ويا رافعاً من نال نعماه بالغنى

على شكره والشكر أعظم نعمة

على شكره والشكر أعظم نعمة

O You who raise through wealth whoever attains Your bounty,

And O You who exalt with wealth those who receive Your bounty,

because of his gratitude—and gratitude is the greatest blessing;

for their gratitude—and gratitude is the greatest blessing,

ويا رافعاً بالعقل والعقل حجة

ويا رافعاً بالعقل والعقل حجة

ولولاه كنا في عداد البهيمة

ولولاه كنا في عداد البهيمة

O You who raise by reason—and reason is a proof;

And O You who exalt through reason—and reason is a proof;

without it, we would be numbered among the beasts.
