ويا قائماً بالقسط يا مقسط القضا

ويا قائماً بالقسط يا مقسط القضا

ويا عادلاً في الحكم اقسط شكيتي

ويا عادلاً في الحكم اقسط شكيتي

O Upholder of justice, O equitable Judge of all judgments,

And O Upholder of justice, O just Dispenser of judgment,

O just One in judgment, adjudicate my complaint fairly.

And O You who are just in judgment, redress my grievance.

أناديك مظلوماً باحكام مقسط

أناديك مظلوماً باحكام مقسط

وطغيان ظلام طغى في البرية

وطغيان ظلام طغى في البرية

I call upon You, wronged through the rulings of one deemed just,

I call upon You, wronged by the rulings of a just judge,

and through the tyranny of oppressors who have run rampant among creation.

And by the tyranny of an oppressor who has run rampant among humankind.

تعادت على ضعفي قواهم فأثخنت

تعادت على ضعفي قواهم فأثخنت

ومنك وأنت المقسط العدل نصرتي

ومنك وأنت المقسط العدل نصرتي

Their forces joined against my weakness and struck grievously;

Their forces banded together against my weakness and wounded me grievously;

from You—for You are the equitable, just One—comes my deliverance.

And from You, who are the Equitable, the Just, comes my help.

وإني وأنت المقسط العدل موقن

وإني وأنت المقسط العدل موقن

بغيرتك اللهم من دون غيرتي

بغيرتك اللهم من دون غيرتي

And I—for You are the equitable, just One—am certain

And I—You being the Equitable, the Just—am certain

of Your protective zeal, O God, beyond any zeal of mine.

Of Your protective zeal, O God, rather than my own.

ولكن صبر العبد دون بلائه

ولكن صبر العبد دون بلائه

وفي قسطك اللهم فصل القضية

وفي قسطك اللهم فصل القضية

Yet a servant’s patience falls short of his affliction,

But the servant’s patience falls short of his affliction,

and in Your justice, O God, lies the settlement of the case.

And in Your justice, O God, lies the case’s resolution.

وأين تعاليهم وأنت مبيرهم

وأين تعاليهم وأنت مبيرهم

وقاصمهم قسطاً ولو بعد مهلة

وقاصمهم قسطاً ولو بعد مهلة

What can their arrogance avail when You are their destroyer,

And where is their arrogance, when You are their destroyer,

their justly appointed breaker—even if after a respite?

And their shatterer in justice, even if after a respite?

وإمهالك الأعداء مقت يلفهم

وإمهالك الأعداء مقت يلفهم

إلى نقمة موعودة مقسطية

إلى نقمة موعودة مقسطية

Your reprieving the enemies is a loathing that envelops them,

And the respite You grant the enemies is wrath that enfolds them

leading to a promised, justice-dealing punishment.

Until a promised, just retribution.

وعدلك قد قامت به الأرض والسما

وعدلك قد قامت به الأرض والسما

وغيرهما من كائنات الخليقة

وغيرهما من كائنات الخليقة

By Your justice the earth and heaven stand,

And by Your justice the earth and heaven stand,

as do all other beings in creation.

And all the other beings of creation.

وحسبي بقسط اللّه بيني وبينهم

وحسبي بقسط اللّه بيني وبينهم

وذلك حكم لا يرد بعلة

وذلك حكم لا يرد بعلة

God’s justice between me and them is enough for me;

And God’s justice between me and them is enough for me;

that is a judgment no pretext can overturn.

And that is a judgment that cannot be overturned on any grounds.

فيا قائماً بالقسط يا مقسط انتصف

فيا قائماً بالقسط يا مقسط انتصف

بعدلك منهم واكفنيهم بقصمة

بعدلك منهم واكفنيهم بقصمة

O Upholder of justice, O equitable One, exact my due

So, O Upholder of justice, O Just One, exact redress

from them through Your justice, and rid me of them with a crushing blow.

From them through Your justice, and rid me of them with a shattering blow.
