وليِّيَ في الدنيا وفي الأخرى تولني
بماwith that by which تتولىYou care for الصالحينthe righteous وثبتand make steadfast
بما تتولى الصالحين وثبت
My Protector in this world and the next, take me into Your care
as You care for the righteous, and make me steadfast.
تولىtake charge of وليProtector of المؤمنينthe believers استقامتيmy uprightness
تولى ولي المؤمنين استقامتي
ونصريand my victory وحققand make true ياO وليProtector محبتيmy love
ونصري وحقق يا ولي محبتي
Take charge, Protector of the believers, of my uprightness
and my victory; make my love true, O Protector.
تولtake charge of ولائيmy allegiance فيin ثبوتthe steadfastness of ولايتيmy bond of divine friendship

بنقطةthrough the dot of باءthe letter bāʾ لاnot بساذجthrough the bare simplicity of نقطتيmy dot
بنقطة باء لا بساذج نقطتي
Guard my allegiance, keeping my bond with You steadfast,
through the dot of bāʾ, not through my dot’s bare simplicity.
تولtake charge of عروجيmy ascent منfrom أفاحيصthe nesting hollows of مركزيmy station
تول عروجي من أفاحيص مركزي
إليكto You بلطفthrough grace منكfrom You لاnot بكيفتيthrough my manner of being
إليك بلطف منك لا بكيفتي
Guide my ascent from the nesting hollows of my station
to You through grace from You, not through my own manner of being.
تولtake charge of وليتيmy spiritual bond باسمكthrough Your name اسميmy name مرقياًelevating
تول وليتي باسمك اسمي مرقياً
صفاتيmy attributes الدناياthe lowly بالصفاتthrough the attributes العليةthe exalted
صفاتي الدنايا بالصفات العلية
Guard my spiritual bond and my name through Your Name, elevating
my lowly attributes through the exalted attributes.
تولtake charge of ولائيmy allegiance منwhoever توليتهYou took into Your care اهتدىwas rightly guided
تول ولائي من توليته اهتدى
رمتنيcast me حظوظيmy selfish interests بينamid أعماقthe depths of ضلتيmy straying
رمتني حظوظي بين أعماق ضلتي
Guard my allegiance: whoever You take into Your care is guided.
My selfish interests have cast me amid the depths of my straying.

وليي تولتني شئون من الهوى
تداركhasten to secure خلاصيmy deliverance منfrom هوىa desire فيهin it شقوتيmy misery
تدارك خلاصي من هوى فيه شقوتي
My Protector, the workings of desire have taken hold of me.
Hasten my deliverance from a desire in which lies my misery.

تدارك وليي هذه النفس إنها
بمهماby whatever means تولاهاtakes charge of it هواهاits desire تولتit becomes

Rescue this soul, my Protector, for it,

Your guardianship is my might; through it I have overcome desire.
