بذات وأوصاف وفي المبدعية

My God, the Wondrous, whose like cannot possibly exist

My God, the Originator, whose equal cannot exist

in essence or attributes, or in creative power.

in essence, attributes, and creative originality.

الهي البديع المبدع الصنع كله

الهي البديع المبدع الصنع كله

عجائب لم يسبق إليها بصنعة

عجائب لم يسبق إليها بصنعة

My God, the Wondrous Creator—all Your handiwork is

My God, the Originator, who brings all creation into being—

marvels no craft has ever anticipated.

wonders in whose making none has preceded You.

الهي البديع الكائنات ابتدعتها

الهي البديع الكائنات ابتدعتها

ولم تبغ في انشائها من معونة

ولم تبغ في انشائها من معونة

My God, the Wondrous, You originated all beings

My God, the Originator, You brought all beings into existence,

and sought no assistance in bringing them into being.

and sought no help in creating them.

الهي ما أبرزته من غرائب

الهي ما أبرزته من غرائب

شهود على الابداع في كل ذرة

شهود على الابداع في كل ذرة

My God, the wonders You have brought forth

My God, the marvels You have brought forth

bear witness to creation in every atom,

are witnesses to origination in every atom;

شهود على الابداع من غير شركة

شهود على الابداع من غير شركة

شهود على ابداع سابق وحدة

شهود على ابداع سابق وحدة

bear witness to creation without any partner,

witnesses to origination without any partnership;

bear witness to a primordial act of creation in oneness.

witnesses to origination by the One whose oneness precedes all.

الهي ابتدعت المبدعات عجائباً

الهي ابتدعت المبدعات عجائباً

ليظهر فيه واجب الأحدية

ليظهر فيه واجب الأحدية

My God, You originated created things as marvels,

My God, You originated created things as wonders,

so that the necessary truth of absolute Oneness might appear therein.

so that the One whose absolute oneness is necessary may be manifest in it.

بديع السما والأرض أبدعت عالمي

بديع السما والأرض أبدعت عالمي

كما شئت من أطواره البشرية

كما شئت من أطواره البشرية

Originator of heaven and earth, You fashioned my world

Originator of heaven and earth, You brought my world into being

as You willed, through all its human phases,

as You willed, in its human stages.

وألهمتني الوجدان والدرك حكمة

وألهمتني الوجدان والدرك حكمة

اسوس بها في مركز العجز فطرتي

اسوس بها في مركز العجز فطرتي

and inspired in me feeling and perception—a wisdom

And You inspired me with inner awareness and perception—a wisdom

by which I govern my nature at the very center of helplessness.

with which I govern my innate nature in the midst of helplessness.

وما ذاك من حولي وادراك طاقتي

وما ذاك من حولي وادراك طاقتي

ولكنه ابداع حول الألوهة

ولكنه ابداع حول الألوهة

That comes not from my own might, nor lies within my power’s grasp;

And that comes not from my own power or what my capacity can grasp,

it is, rather, the creative wonder of divine might.

but is the creative work of divine might.

وها قد أحاطت بي وأنت محيطها

وها قد أحاطت بي وأنت محيطها

بدائع مكروه علت فوق قدرتي

بدائع مكروه علت فوق قدرتي

Now they have encompassed me, while You encompass them:

And behold, I have been surrounded—and You encompass them—

wondrous afflictions that have risen beyond my power.

by marvels of misfortune that have risen beyond my power.

تفسح عن تحويلهن تمحلي

تفسح عن تحويلهن تمحلي

فابدع خلاصي يا بديع العجيبة

فابدع خلاصي يا بديع العجيبة

My every stratagem falls short of turning them away;

My ingenuity has withdrawn from turning them aside;

so devise my deliverance wondrously, O wondrous Maker of marvels.

so fashion my deliverance, O Originator of wonders!
