My God, O Lord of bounty and grace, here is

my soul’s need, come to rest at Your door.

My God, O Lord of bounty, Your servant is wretched;

I call upon You, hoping for an opening of goodness and mercy.

أباديك بالانعام كل الخليقة

My God, O Lord of bounty, so far-reaching and all-sufficing are

My God, O Possessor of bounty, far-reaching and all-sufficing have been

Your favors, bestowing abundance upon all creation.

Your favors in blessing all creation.

بحمدك يا ذا الطول لسني قانطاً

بحمدك يا ذا الطول لسني قانطاً

على العسر والأكداء من روح رحمة

على العسر والأكداء من روح رحمة

Praising You, O Lord of bounty, I am not despairing,

Praise be to You, O Possessor of bounty: I do not despair,

despite hardship and obstacles, of a breath of mercy.

despite hardship and privation, of mercy's soothing breath.

وما غمني الاقتار إلا تفرجت

عمومي يا ذا الطول منك بنفحة

No sooner does privation distress me than there find relief

Whenever poverty grieved me, dispelled were

my troubles, O Lord of bounty, through a breath from You.

وفي وسع طول اللّه ذي الطول موضع

لتسهيل أوطاري ودفع ضرورتي

Within the vast bounty of God, the Lord of bounty, there is room

And in the vast bounty of God, the Possessor of bounty, there is room

to ease the fulfillment of my aims and drive away my dire need.

متى ضايقتني شدة لم تكن لها

بطولك يا ذا الطول حتى تجلت

Whenever adversity hems me in, it cannot stand

When has hardship hemmed me in without You being there for it,

against Your bounty, O Lord of bounty, but clears away.

with Your bounty, O Possessor of bounty, until it cleared?

أبشر آمالي وقد عظم البلا

أبشر آمالي وقد عظم البلا

عسى منك يا ذا الطول يسري استهلت

عسى منك يا ذا الطول يسري استهلت

I hearten my hopes, though affliction has grown grave;

I gladden my hopes, though affliction has grown great:

perhaps my relief from You, O Lord of bounty, has begun to pour down.

وكم لك يا ذا الطول بشرى تنزلت

عليَّ وتبريكات لطف ونظرة

How many glad tidings of Yours, O Lord of bounty, have descended

And how many glad tidings of Yours, O Possessor of bounty, have descended

upon me, with blessings of kindness and a gracious glance.

خلقت جزوعاً عند نازلة البلا

وذلك دأب الفطرة البشرية

I was created fretful when calamity descends—

such is the habitual way of human nature.

وإلا فعند اللّه رزقي مقدر

وإلا فعند اللّه رزقي مقدر

وما ضاق طول اللّه عن سد خلتي

وما ضاق طول اللّه عن سد خلتي

Yet my provision stands apportioned with God,

Otherwise, with God my sustenance is apportioned,

and God’s bounty is never too narrow to satisfy my need.
