My God, O Bestower, how many favors are Yours,

With which You gather my scattered self and mend my rift.

My God, O Bestower, how many favors are Yours,

With which You mended my brokenness and relieved my poverty.

And how many favors You lavished, satisfying my desires,

And meeting my needs, sparing me, Lord, dependence on any other favor.

Even were there only Your favor of guidance,

And knowledge, spiritual insight, and faithful adherence,

And well-being in life and well-being in piety,

And my stance of certainty and my stance of supplication,

And Your granting me success, O God, upon my paths

To You, and in my good deeds, my fear, and my longing,

And Your generous provision for me, O God, of cherished gifts,

Through which I found happiness and contentment in my life,

And Your repelling my enemies and ending their harm,

And Your upholding my authority over them and my argument—

And who could help me count Your favors, my Master?

That is a task beyond the measure of my strength.

And my way is to turn away and hold myself aloof

From gratitude—the way of a servant and of arrogant ingratitude.

My supplication is extensive, and my need is constant,

And from You, O Bestower, come my abundance and sufficiency.
