May God preserve a night of fellowship, magnificent

In splendor and beauty, like the full moon.

So it was for us a bright spot in time,

And its form was like a badge of honor.

From fresh literature I pluck there

Flowers watered by the clouds' pure rain.

There I exchange, as I please,

The choicest words with noble men of eminence.

At times, from fresh pearls I gather

Loose gems, and at times necklaces of verse.

Cups of drink are passed around among us,

Of tea, not of the carnelian of wine.

Some white, like tresses of silver,

And some red, like the flame of kindling.

At the gathering of a generous man of noble lineage,

Whose hands reach far in bounty, whose standing is high.

He greets his companions with the springtime

Of an openhearted nature—the nature of the noble.

I recalled what had passed between us,

And no happy life lasts forever.

So may your gathering remain forever blissful,

Through good fortune, radiant and smiling.

So, O night of togetherness, endure for us,

For you are peace; peace be upon you.
