بإسمك يا اللّه أخلصت داعياً

أزل حظ نفسي لا تدع منه باقيا

In Your name, O God, I have prayed with pure devotion.

With Your name, O God, I pleaded sincerely

Remove my ego's share; let nothing of it remain.

To remove my soul's misfortune, leaving naught behind

وخذني بنور اللّه عن بشريتي

وخذني بنور اللّه عن بشريتي

إلى عالم التقديس من شهواتيا

إلى عالم التقديس من شهواتيا

And take me, by God's light, beyond my human nature,

And take me with Allah's light from my humanity

To the realm of holiness, away from my desires.

To the world of sanctity from my lusts

ومزق حجاب القبض بيني وبين ما

ومزق حجاب القبض بيني وبين ما

توليت عنه من بسيط حياتيا

توليت عنه من بسيط حياتيا

And rend the veil of constriction between me and what

And tear apart the veil of concealment between me and what

I have forsaken of my life's expanse.

I had turned from of my simple life

واشعل وجودي من بارق فيضه

واشعل وجودي من بارق فيضه

بلامعة تمحو ظلام صفاتيا

بلامعة تمحو ظلام صفاتيا

And kindle my being from the lightning-flash of His outpouring,

And ignite my existence with a flash of His overflowing grace

With a gleam that effaces the darkness of my attributes.

With a brilliance that eliminates the darkness of my attributes

وحقق بلاهوتية الاسم ذلتي

وحقق بلاهوتية الاسم ذلتي

لتلبس ناسوتيتي العز واقيا

لتلبس ناسوتيتي العز واقيا

And establish my lowliness through the divinity of the Name,

And realize with the divinity of the Name my lowliness

So that my human nature may wear glory as a shield.

So that my humanity wears dignity and protection

وجرد وجودي حيث لا أحديتي

وجرد وجودي حيث لا أحديتي

وجود وجوداً آمراً بك ناهيا

وجود وجوداً آمراً بك ناهيا

And strip my being bare—where my oneness has no

And strip my existence where I have no selfness

Existence—as a being commanding and forbidding through You.

An existence and existence commanded by You forbidding

يفيض عليه اسم الجلالة فيضة

يفيض عليه اسم الجلالة فيضة

فيسطو جلالي قاهراً متعاليا

فيسطو جلالي قاهراً متعاليا

The Name of Majesty pours over it in a flood,

Overflowing upon it the Name of Majesty an overflow

So my majesty holds sway, conquering and exalted.

So my majesty prevails, compelling and transcendent

ومن عالم التقديس منك مآخذي

ومن عالم التقديس منك مآخذي

بتأثيره في عالمي حسب حاليا

بتأثيره في عالمي حسب حاليا

And my sources come from You, from the realm of holiness,

And from the world of sanctity Your takings of me

Through its influence in my world, according to my state.

By its effect in my world according to my state

ومن بسطة الألطاف هب لي بسره

ومن بسطة الألطاف هب لي بسره

بسائط يفنى الكون وهي كما هيا

بسائط يفنى الكون وهي كما هيا

And from the expanse of subtle graces grant me, through its secret,

And from the kindnesses of favors grant me its secret

Expanses—the cosmos perishes, while they remain as they are.

Kindnesses where the universe disappears yet they are as they are

وقو شهودي بعد تحقيق ما أنا

وقو شهودي بعد تحقيق ما أنا

بما هو واكشف لي به جهل ما بيا

بما هو واكشف لي به جهل ما بيا

And strengthen my witnessing, after realizing what I am,

And strengthen my witnessing after realizing what I am

Through what He is; and through Him lift my ignorance of what is within me.

By what He is and reveal to me through it the ignorance of what is in me

وجلّ به ظلمات جهلي وغفلتي

وجلّ به ظلمات جهلي وغفلتي

فتسطع بالأنوار مشكاة ذاتيا

فتسطع بالأنوار مشكاة ذاتيا

And through Him dispel the darknesses of my ignorance and heedlessness,

And erase with it the darknesses of my ignorance and heedlessness

So the lamp-niche of my essence shines with lights.

So the lantern of my essence shines with light
