باسمك سيدي تجلى الكروب

باسمك سيدي تجلى الكروب

وذكرك تطمئن به القلوب

وذكرك تطمئن به القلوب

In Your name, my Master, afflictions are dispelled.

In Your name, my Lord, distress was relieved,

And through remembrance of You, hearts find peace.

And with Your remembrance hearts are reassured.

بحمدك سبحت روحي ونفسي

بحمدك سبحت روحي ونفسي

وقلبي فيك منكسر قطيب

وقلبي فيك منكسر قطيب

In praise of You, my spirit and my soul have glorified You.

With Your praise my soul and self glorified You,

And my heart is broken and downcast for You.

And my heart in You is broken and devoted.

بثثت إليك أحزاني وكربي

بثثت إليك أحزاني وكربي

وحالي عنك ربي لا تغيب

وحالي عنك ربي لا تغيب

I have poured out to You my sorrows and my anguish.

I confided in You my sorrows and troubles,

And my state, my Lord, is not hidden from You.

And my state without You, my Lord, do not disappear.

برحمتك استغثت ولي يقين

برحمتك استغثت ولي يقين

بأن من استغاثك لا يخيب

بأن من استغاثك لا يخيب

Through Your mercy I have sought help, and I am certain

With Your mercy I beseeched and am certain

That whoever seeks Your help will not be disappointed.

That whoever implores You will not be disappointed.

بلطفك سيدي فرج وبشرى

بلطفك سيدي فرج وبشرى

وإن عقدت شدائدها الخطوب

وإن عقدت شدائدها الخطوب

In Your kindness, my Master, are relief and glad tidings,

With Your kindness, my Lord, relief and good news,

Even if calamities knot their hardships tight.

Even if hardships have tied their knots.

بمنظرك العلي صفات نفسي

بمنظرك العلي صفات نفسي

وما جرت علي به الذنوب

وما جرت علي به الذنوب

Before Your exalted gaze lie my soul's qualities,

With the sight of You, the Most High, my soul is purified

And all that sins have brought upon me.

And absolved of the sins that have flowed.

بسوء الاختيار عصيت ربي

بسوء الاختيار عصيت ربي

وتلك قضية منها أتوب

وتلك قضية منها أتوب

Through poor choice I disobeyed my Lord,

By poor choosing I disobeyed my Lord,

And that is a matter of which I repent.

And that is an affair I repent from.

بصرت بزلتي سراً وجهراً

بصرت بزلتي سراً وجهراً

وسرك ليس تهتكه العيوب

وسرك ليس تهتكه العيوب

You have seen my lapse, in secret and in public,

I have seen my stumble both secretly and openly,

And Your mystery is not laid bare by faults.

And Your secret cannot be violated by defects.

بعيد من عبيدك كل خير

بعيد من عبيدك كل خير

ولكن أنت بالحسنى قريب

ولكن أنت بالحسنى قريب

All goodness is far from Your servants,

Far from Your servants is all good,

Yet You are near with kindness.

But You are near to the good.

برأفتك استجرت من الخطايا

برأفتك استجرت من الخطايا

فكل مكاسبي اثم وحوب

فكل مكاسبي اثم وحوب

In Your compassion I sought refuge from sins,

With Your kindness I sought refuge from sins,

For all my gains are sin and guilt.

For all my acquisitions are misdeeds and doubts.

برئت إليك مما لست ترضى

برئت إليك مما لست ترضى

وأنت على براءتي الرقيب

وأنت على براءتي الرقيب

I have renounced before You whatever displeases You,

I am innocent before You of what You do not approve,

And You are the Watcher over my renunciation.

And You are the Overseer of my innocence.

بأوبة مخلص لم يبق شيء

بأوبة مخلص لم يبق شيء

سواك على الوجود له حبيب

سواك على الوجود له حبيب

With the repentance of one sincere, nothing remains

With sincere repentance nothing remains

Beloved to him in all existence but You.

Except You over existence as a beloved.

بعثت إليك من سري رجاء

بعثت إليك من سري رجاء

وأنت عليم ما تخفى الغيوب

وأنت عليم ما تخفى الغيوب

I have sent You a plea from my inmost heart,

I sent to You from my secret hope,

And You are all-knowing; the unseen is not hidden from You.

And You are All-Knowing of what is hidden from sights.

بصير بي وما أخفي وأبدي

بصير بي وما أخفي وأبدي

وما يأتي به الزمن العصيب

وما يأتي به الزمن العصيب

You see me and what I conceal and reveal,

Seeing of me what I conceal and reveal

And what harsh times will bring.

And what will come with time's ordeals.

بما نجيبت نوحاً حين نادى

بما نجيبت نوحاً حين نادى

وأنت لكل من نادى مجيب

وأنت لكل من نادى مجيب

By that through which You saved Noah when he called,

As You saved Noah when he called

And You answer everyone who calls.

And You answer all who call.

بما نجيت يؤنس حين نادى

بما نجيت يؤنس حين نادى

وسبح فانجلت عنه الكروب

وسبح فانجلت عنه الكروب

By that through which You saved Jonah when he called,

As You saved Jonah when he called

And glorified You, so afflictions lifted from him;

And glorified, so worries uncovered from him.

بما نجيت أيوب المنادي

بما نجيت أيوب المنادي

ونعم العبد أواب منيب

ونعم العبد أواب منيب

By that through which You saved Job, the supplicant,

As You saved Job the caller

And what an excellent servant—ever returning, ever repentant!

How excellent a servant relenting and devoted.

بديع الكائنات الطف بعبد

بديع الكائنات الطف بعبد

له من كل سيئة نصيب

له من كل سيئة نصيب

O Originator of all beings, be gentle with a servant

O Innovator of creation, be gentle with a servant

Who has a share in every sin.

Who has a share of every evil.

برحمتك التي وسعت أصبني

برحمتك التي وسعت أصبني

فإنك من تشاء بها تصيب

فإنك من تشاء بها تصيب

Touch me with Your mercy, which is so vast,

With Your mercy which encompasses, make me among those You bless

For with it You touch whomever You will.

For You strike with it whom You will.

بلياتي أحاطت بي ومالي

بلياتي أحاطت بي ومالي

عليها سيدي صبر رحيب

عليها سيدي صبر رحيب

My afflictions have surrounded me, and I have no

With my tribulations surrounding me and I have,

Ample patience to bear them, my Master.

My Lord, no ample patience.

بنصرك استعد لكل هول

بنصرك استعد لكل هول

بحولك كل هول لا ينوب

بحولك كل هول لا ينوب

With Your help I prepare for every terror.

With Your victory prepare for every fear

Through Your might, no terror befalls me.

With Your power every fear cannot approach.

بحولك رب لي نصر عزيز

بحولك رب لي نصر عزيز

بحولك رب لي فتح قريب

بحولك رب لي فتح قريب

Through Your might, Lord, mine is a mighty victory;

With Your power, Lord, grant me mighty victory

Through Your might, Lord, mine is a triumph close at hand.

With Your power, Lord, grant me near opening.

بدالي من جلالك قهر خصمي

بدالي من جلالك قهر خصمي

فاسهمهم إلي لهم تصيب

فاسهمهم إلي لهم تصيب

Through Your majesty, my foe's subjugation became plain to me,

In place of Your majesty, overpower my opponent

So their arrows aimed at me strike them instead.

So their arrows to me deliver.

بغوا بي السوء فانجدلوا وخابوا

بغوا بي السوء فانجدلوا وخابوا

كذلك كل جبار يخيب

كذلك كل جبار يخيب

They sought my harm, but fell headlong and failed.

They plotted evil against me, so they failed and were lost,

Thus every tyrant fails.

Thus is every tyrant lost.

بعزتك اعتصمت فلا أبالي

بعزتك اعتصمت فلا أبالي

وإن نصبت مكائدها الخطوب

وإن نصبت مكائدها الخطوب

I have held fast to Your might, so I am untroubled,

With Your might I sought refuge, so I am not worried

Even if calamities set their snares.

Even if they lay their knotted troubles.

بعز اللّه سلطاني عليهم

بعز اللّه سلطاني عليهم

وعدل اللّه سلطان مهيب

وعدل اللّه سلطان مهيب

By God's might I have authority over them,

With God's might my authority over them

And God's justice is an awe-inspiring authority.

And God's justice an awe-inspiring authority.

بقدرتك استجرت من الأعادي

بقدرتك استجرت من الأعادي

فأنت القاهر الحكم الحسيب

فأنت القاهر الحكم الحسيب

In Your power I sought refuge from enemies,

With Your power I sought refuge from enemies

For You are the Subduer, the Judge, the Reckoner.

For You are The Subduer, The Wise Judge.

بنور محمد نور يقيني

بنور محمد نور يقيني

وصل عليه ما نارت قلوب

وصل عليه ما نارت قلوب

With Muhammad's light, illumine my certainty,

With the light of Muhammad, light of my certainty,

And send blessings upon him as long as hearts shine.

And send peace upon him as long as hearts pulse.
