And O You whose essence is hidden, You are concealed without concealment,

O essence of the essence, you hid without hiding

Hidden from thoughts and speculation.

In depths beyond thoughts and theories

بطنت بغفران الذنوب وعفوها

بطنت بغفران الذنوب وعفوها

وبالعلم اطلاقاً بكل حقيقة

وبالعلم اطلاقاً بكل حقيقة

You are hidden through forgiving sins and pardoning them,

You forgave sins and pardoned them

And through boundless knowledge of every reality.

With knowledge absolutely and truthfully

بطنت بطوناً أن تناسب حادثاً

بطنت بطوناً أن تناسب حادثاً

بحد ورسم أو بأية صورة

بحد ورسم أو بأية صورة

You are hidden beyond resemblance to any created thing,

You hid in depths to suit an event

In definition and description, or in any form.

With limit and symbol or any form

بطنت بتكوين الحقائق كلها

بطنت بتكوين الحقائق كلها

وابطان ما أودعت في الباطنية

وابطان ما أودعت في الباطنية

You are hidden in bringing all realities into being,

You hid in forming all facts

And in concealing what You have placed in the inward realm.

And the depths you placed in the esoteric

بطنت بقدس الذات عن غير شأنها

بطنت بقدس الذات عن غير شأنها

من الحيث والتكييف والمتوية

من الحيث والتكييف والمتوية

You are hidden through the holiness of Your essence, beyond what is alien to it—

You hid in the sanctity of the essence from other than its affairs

Place, modality, and time.

Of relation, categorization and essentiality

بطنت عن التخييل والوهم سيدي

بطنت عن التخييل والوهم سيدي

وعن شبه معقول ومحسوس فطرة

وعن شبه معقول ومحسوس فطرة

You are hidden beyond imagination and fancy, my Master,

You hid from imagination and illusion my lord

And beyond any likeness conceived by reason or naturally sensed.

And from rational and sensory semblance innately

بطنت الهي بامتنانك مطلقاً

بطنت الهي بامتنانك مطلقاً

وافناء ما أوجدته من خليقة

وافناء ما أوجدته من خليقة

You are hidden, my God, through Your boundless bounty,

You hid my God in your absolute favor

And in annihilating every creature You have brought into being.

And annihilation of what you created from creatures

بطنت بطوناً لا احتجاباً بحاجب

بطنت بطوناً لا احتجاباً بحاجب

الهي بطون الحق بالصمدية

الهي بطون الحق بالصمدية

You are hidden, not concealed behind a barrier—

You hid in depths not with a veil as a barrier

My God, with the Real's hiddenness in absolute self-sufficiency.

My God, depths of truth with divinity

بطنت بتزيين المراشد والهدى

بطنت بتزيين المراشد والهدى

وبعث الحجا بالنظرة القدسية

وبعث الحجا بالنظرة القدسية

You are hidden in adorning right paths and guidance,

You hid in adorning the spiritual guides and guidance

And in awakening reason through the holy gaze.

And sending pilgrims with the holy gaze

بطنت فلا إدراك للحس والنهى

بطنت فلا إدراك للحس والنهى

بدنيا ولا أخرى لعين الحقيقة

بدنيا ولا أخرى لعين الحقيقة

You are hidden: neither sense nor intellect can perceive

You hid so senses and mind have no comprehension

The very essence of Reality, in this world or the next.

Of worldly or other for the eye of truth

فقدس بنور الباطن الحق باطني

فقدس بنور الباطن الحق باطني

وهب لي كشف الباطنات الخفية

وهب لي كشف الباطنات الخفية

So sanctify my inward self with the light of the Hidden One, the Real,

So sanctify with the esoteric light of truth my esoteric

And grant me the unveiling of hidden inner mysteries.

And grant me unveiling the hidden depths
