    لغير انتهاء يا كبير لمدة

    And O You to whom reverence is due in Your majesty,

    for an endless duration, O Great One;

    فما ثم ادراك لكنه الحقيقة

    and You whose greatness minds fall short of describing,

    so there is no grasp of the essence of Reality;

    وشأن وتدبير وملك وعزة

    and You whose greatness is the greatness of divine power,

    and of eminence, governance, dominion, and might;

    فما هو منعوت على سببية

    and You whose greatness lies in perfection intrinsic to Your essence,

    so You are not described in terms of causation;

    and You whose greatness is not the bulk of Your creatures’ bodies,

    You are exalted beyond likeness in any respect.

    No creature, then, has a share in Your majesty,

    and those who describe You have no share but helplessness.

    Nor are there dimensions, nor any substance,

    that would impose the imperfection of parity upon the essence of the Real.

    تردى فلا ند ولا جزء شركة

    You have donned the mantle of majesty, as is Your right;

    You have donned it: no equal, no portion held in common.

    My God, my station is helplessness, poverty, and annihilation,

    and my greatness is my submission, O Great One, and my lowliness.

    How deserving is the claim of one in such a state

    of rejection—and its claimant, lacking proof, of refutation!

    So enlarge my portions from You in every quest,

    and my resolve and aspiration in all that pleases You.
