من العلم تحييني بها متجملا

من العلم تحييني بها متجملا

And illumine my heart, O All-Knowing, with a flash

O Knower of my spirit's light, with a flash

of knowledge through which You revive me in beauty.

Of knowledge revive me, beautifully adorned.

وزين فعالي يا حكيم بحكمة

وزين فعالي يا حكيم بحكمة

فمن تؤتها فالخير قد حاز مجملا

فمن تؤتها فالخير قد حاز مجملا

And adorn my deeds, O All-Wise, with wisdom;

O Wise one, with wisdom make my deeds fair,

for whoever You grant it has indeed gained goodness in full.

For he who is granted it gains perfect good entire.

بأرواح لطف يا لطيف رياحها

بأرواح لطف يا لطيف رياحها

لدنية نفَّحْ جناني وعللا

لدنية نفَّحْ جناني وعللا

With breaths of grace, O Subtle One, whose breezes

O Gentle one, with breezes of gentle spirits

come from Your presence, breathe fragrance into my heart and refresh it.

Heavenly, perfume my garden and heal it.

ألا يا خبير اكشف لسري غوامض ال

ألا يا خبير اكشف لسري غوامض ال

غيوب وكن للسر سري مؤهلا

غيوب وكن للسر سري مؤهلا

Lo, O All-Aware, unveil to my inmost self the mysteries of the

O Expert, uncover for my secret the darknesses

unseen realms, and make my inmost self fit for the secret.

Of the unseen, and for my mystery be well qualified.

ويا محييَ الموتى فؤادي أحيه

ويا محييَ الموتى فؤادي أحيه

بأرواح أسرار لأسمائك العلى

بأرواح أسرار لأسمائك العلى

And O Reviver of the dead, bring my heart to life

O Lifegiver of the dead, give life to my heart

with the spirits of the mysteries of Your exalted names.

With the spirits of the secrets of Your Lofty Names.

وبين لسري يا مبين معارفا

وبين لسري يا مبين معارفا

شوارقها من مطلع اللطف تجتلى

شوارقها من مطلع اللطف تجتلى

And make clear to my inmost self, O Clarifier, insights

O Exposer, show me gnostic knowledges

whose rising lights are beheld from the dawning-place of grace.

Whose dawnings shine from the horizon of Grace.

ويا نور نور باطني وظواهري

ويا نور نور باطني وظواهري

ضياء من النور المقدس مشعلا

ضياء من النور المقدس مشعلا

And O Light, illumine my inward being and my outward aspects

O Light, light of my essence and appearances,

with a radiance kindled from the sacred light.

A lamp lit from the sacred Light blaze.

ويا ظاهر اجعلني بنورك ظاهراً

ويا ظاهر اجعلني بنورك ظاهراً

على كل مخفي الظهور وما انجلى

على كل مخفي الظهور وما انجلى

And O Manifest One, through Your light make me prevail

O Outward, make me outwardly manifest by Your light,

over all that is hidden from sight and all that is revealed.

Upon every hiddenness of manifestation and all that is unclear.

ويا باطن الذات الحميد ثناؤه

ويا باطن الذات الحميد ثناؤه

امط حجب مجهولات عقلي وزيلا

امط حجب مجهولات عقلي وزيلا

And O You whose essence is hidden, whose praise is glorious,

O Inward of the Praised Essence, His praise,

remove the veils of what my mind does not know, and dispel them.

Draw back the veils of the unknowns of my intellect and remove them.

ونفسي سلم من كدورات وصفها

ونفسي سلم من كدورات وصفها

وهبني طبعاً يا سلام مكملا

وهبني طبعاً يا سلام مكملا

And keep my soul safe from the impurities of its nature,

And deliver my soul from the evil suggestions of its description,

and grant me, O Peace, a perfected nature.

And grant me, O Peace, perfect completion.

ويا باريء ابرء نور قلبي وزكه

ويا باريء ابرء نور قلبي وزكه

يكن لفيوض السر منك مؤهلا

يكن لفيوض السر منك مؤهلا

And O Creator, bring forth the light of my heart and purify it,

O Innocent, purify and sanctify the light of my heart,

that it may be fit for the outpourings of mystery from You.

That it be qualified for the outpourings of the mystery from You.

معارف أحيا بالعلوم مسربلا

معارف أحيا بالعلوم مسربلا

Fashioner of my soul, unveil to my inmost self the truths of the

O Fashioner of my soul, uncover for my secret the realities

spiritual insights, that I may live robed in knowledge.

Of knowledges-by them adorn me clothed in sciences.

ويا مبديء الابداع للسر مظهرا

افض لي من بحر العوارف جدولا

And O Originator of creation, revealing it to the inmost self,

O Inaugurator of creation for the mystery a manifester,

pour forth for me a stream from the ocean of bounties.

Pour forth for me from the ocean of knowledges a stream.

أعد لي من أراح لطفك نفحة

أعد لي من أراح لطفك نفحة

معيد حياة الجسم من عالم البلى

معيد حياة الجسم من عالم البلى

Restore to me a breath from the breezes of Your grace,

Prepare for me from the comforts of Your Grace a breath,

O Restorer of the body's life from the realm of decay.

Restoring life to the body from the world of decay.

ويا أحد ارزقني اتحاداً ونسبة

ويا أحد ارزقني اتحاداً ونسبة

بمن علة التوحيد كأساً مسلسلا

بمن علة التوحيد كأساً مسلسلا

And O One, grant me union and a bond

O One, provide me with unity and connection

with the one who is the cause of oneness—a freely flowing cup.

To the One for whom the oblation of oneness is an unending chalice.

بأبدع سر في خفا سرك انجلى

بأبدع سر في خفا سرك انجلى

Peerless Creator of heaven and earth, favor my inner sight

Originator of heaven and earth, endow my insight

with the most wondrous secret unveiled in the hidden depths of Your mystery.

With the most wondrous secret in Your unseen mystery that shone forth.
