تحت الثرى وظلام الليل مندلُ

تحت الثرى وظلام الليل مندلُ

O You who rose on high and saw what is in hearts and what

O You who rose high and saw what hearts conceal

lies beneath the soil, while the darkness of night hangs down.

And what beneath the soil and night's darkness lies

أنتَ المغيثُ لمن ضاقَت مذاهبهُ

أنتَ المغيثُ لمن ضاقَت مذاهبهُ

أنتَ الدليلُ لمن ضاقَت به الحيلُ

أنتَ الدليلُ لمن ضاقَت به الحيلُ

You are the rescuer of one whose paths have narrowed.

You are the refuge for the one whose paths grow narrow

You are the guide for one whose means have failed him.

You are the guide for the one whose means run dry

إنّا قصدناك والآمالُ واثقةٌ

إنّا قصدناك والآمالُ واثقةٌ

والكلُّ يدعوك ملهوف ومبتهِلُ

والكلُّ يدعوك ملهوف ومبتهِلُ

Indeed, we have sought You, our hopes confident.

Indeed we came to You, hopes held firm

And everyone calls upon You, distressed and imploring.

With all calling you, anxious and imploring

فإن غفَرت فَذو فضلٍ وذو كرَمٍ

فإن غفَرت فَذو فضلٍ وذو كرَمٍ

وإن سطَرتَ فأنتَ الحاكم العادِلُ

وإن سطَرتَ فأنتَ الحاكم العادِلُ

So if You forgive, You are full of grace and generosity.

If You forgive, it's grace and generosity

And if You write, You are the just Judge.

If You record, it's justice and equity
