ياO منyou who لاnot ذاقtasted سكرintoxication طعمsavor المحبَّهlove
يا من لا ذاق سكر طعم المحبَّه
ولاand not ربّاهnurtured him بالذوقthrough tasting ولاand not تربيwas brought up
ولا ربّاه بالذوق ولا تربي
O you who have never tasted the intoxicating savor of love,
Nor been nurtured through tasting, nor brought up in it,
ولاand not ناداهcalled him ساقٍa cupbearer ولاand not قطever ليfor me
ولا ناداه ساقٍ ولا قط لي
ولاand not شهدwitnessed لذَّةdelight المشاهدthe visions
ولا شهد لذَّة المشاهد
Nor has a cupbearer called him; 'nor ever for me' [ending unclear].
Nor witnessed the delight of visions.
أفِقawake! كمhow many مملوكa slave
أفِق كم مملوك
فيat بابthe gate of الممالكthe kingdoms
في باب الممالك
Awake! How many a slave
At the gate of kingdoms!

المب وانف الشكوم تترقّ ذا الوداد
لمنfor whoever عرفhas known مولاهhis Lord المدَدsuccor! المددsuccor!

[Unclear word], and banish [perhaps 'doubts']; ascend, bearer of love.
For whoever knows his Lord—succor, succor!
اياO رسولَMessenger اللَهGod
ايا رسولَ اللَه
أياO حبيبbeloved اللَهGod
أيا حبيب اللَه
O Messenger of God!
O beloved of God!
اعرفknow! تعرِفyou will know بمعرفةِthrough knowing المواليthe masters
اعرف تعرِف بمعرفةِ الموالي
وتواضعand humble yourself لوeven if تكُنyou are فيin المعاليthe heights
وتواضع لو تكُن في المعالي
Know, and you will know through knowing the masters.
And humble yourself, even if you stand in the heights.
عسىmay تَبلُغyou attain ماwhat بلغتattained الرجالthe men
عسى تَبلُغ ما بلغت الرجال
وتتحقَّقand attain realization بحقائقin the truths of كلevery واليguardian; ruler
وتتحقَّق بحقائق كل والي
May you attain what the men have attained,
And attain realization in the truths of every guardian.
تلكthat هذاthis الطريقthe path
تلك هذا الطريق
يسطعshines نوركyour light شريقradiant (uncertain reading)
يسطع نورك شريق
That is this path.
Your light shines radiantly [last word uncertain].
وباللَهand through God التوفيقsuccess; divine guidance تعطىare given لكto you الأسرارthe secrets
وباللَه التوفيق تعطى لك الأسرار
لمنfor whoever عرفhas known مولاهhis Lord المدَدsuccor! المددsuccor!
لمن عرف مولاه المدَد المدد
And through God comes success; the secrets are granted to you.
For whoever knows his Lord—succor, succor!
أياO رسولMessenger اللَهGod
أيا رسول اللَه
أياO حبيبَbeloved اللهGod
أيا حبيبَ الله
O Messenger of God!
O beloved of God!
اطبعmold! طبعكyour nature بطبايعwith the natures of أهلthe people of العنايَةdivine care
اطبع طبعك بطبايع أهل العنايَة
وأحسنand improve ظنَّكyour opinion يعودbecomes قلبُكyour heart مرايَةa mirror
وأحسن ظنَّك يعود قلبُك مرايَة
Mold your nature to the natures of those favored with divine care.
And hold a good opinion; your heart will become a mirror.
منكَfrom you وفيكand within you يسطعshines نورُlight الولايَةsainthood
منكَ وفيك يسطع نورُ الولايَة
ترفَعare lifted تنكunclear; perhaps 'from you' الظلالthe shadows تسعدrejoice بكthrough you السعودthe auspicious stars
ترفَع تنك الظلال تسعد بك السعود
From you and within you shines the light of sainthood.
The shadows are lifted [from you?]; the auspicious stars rejoice through you.
تسودgain mastery بكthrough you الأسودthe lions
تسود بك الأسود
تشاهدyou behold المعبودthe One worshipped
تشاهد المعبود
The lions gain mastery through you.
You behold the One worshipped.
فيin العدمnonbeing والوجودand being تترقيّyou ascend الودادlove
في العدم والوجود تترقيّ الوداد
لمنfor whoever عرفhas known مولاهhis Lord ألمددsuccor! ألمددsuccor!
لمن عرف مولاه ألمدد ألمدد
In nonbeing and being, you ascend in love.
For whoever knows his Lord—succor, succor!
أياO رسولMessenger اللَهGod
أيا رسول اللَه
أياO حبيبbeloved اللَهGod
أيا حبيب اللَه
O Messenger of God!
O beloved of God!
ياO محمّدMuhammad سارتjourneyed لكfor you النياقthe she-camels
يا محمّد سارت لك النياق
ياO محمّدMuhammad ركبتَyou rode ظهرthe back of البُراقal-Buraq
يا محمّد ركبتَ ظهر البُراق
O Muhammad, the she-camels journeyed for you.
O Muhammad, you rode al-Buraq's back.
شاهدتyou beheld اللَهGod بالعيونwith the eyes بالعيونwith the eyes
شاهدت اللَه بالعيون بالعيون
نطقَتspoke لكto you الأحجارthe stones سجدَتprostrated لكto you الأشجارthe trees
نطقَت لك الأحجار سجدَت لك الأشجار
You beheld God with your eyes, with your eyes.
The stones spoke to you; the trees prostrated before you.
شقتsplit لكfor you الأقمارthe moons
شقت لك الأقمار
نورُكyour light عمّpervaded الأقطارthe lands
نورُك عمّ الأقطار
The moons split for you.
Your light pervaded the lands.
نورُكyour light الكلُّeverything ذاthis سريmy secret هذاthis بداappeared
نورُك الكلُّ ذا سري هذا بدا
لمنfor whoever عرفhas known مولاهhis Lord المددsuccor! المددsuccor!
لمن عرف مولاه المدد المدد
Your light is everything; this is my secret—this has become manifest.
For whoever knows his Lord—succor, succor!

أيا رسول اللَه
