أنظر في مرآك الذي ترى

فيها هوَ ذاك

Look into your mirror: the one you see

in it is that very one.

إرفع المرآة وانظر

يظهَر كلّ شيء

Raise the mirror and look;

everything appears.

ترى الخالي والمعمور

وميتاً وحي

You see the deserted and the inhabited,

and the dead and the living.

ما يبدو لكالمستور

إلّا بالمري

The hidden does not appear to you

except through the mirror.

ينكشف غطاك تبقى في الوجود وحدك

لا ترى سواك

Your veil is lifted; you remain alone in existence.

You see none but yourself.

لا تنظر عيوب غيرك

إنَّ لكَ عيوب

Do not look at others' faults;

indeed, you have faults.

كلّ العيبِ من نفسك

إرتجع وتُب

All fault comes from your own self.

Turn back and repent.

لو فُتحَ على قلبكَ

تخرقُ العُجب

If an opening were granted to your heart,

you would break through self-conceit.

ترى ذا وذاك تتفرّج في علمِ الغيب

تشكرُ من أعطاك

You would see this and that, gazing into knowledge of the unseen.

You would thank the one who gave to you.

معكَ الكلام كلّه

ولك الحديث

All speech is with you,

and the discourse is yours.

خُذ من المليح جلّه

واترُك الخبيب

Take most of what is good,

and leave the deceitful.

والذي جهِلَ قُل له

بجهلكَ عميت

And say to the one who is ignorant:

Through your ignorance you have gone blind.

لو أراد هداك لحقّقت في

أمري وفيما نهاك

Had he willed your guidance, you would have inquired into

my affair and what he forbade you.

إعرف يا فقير اللَه

حقّ المعرفه

Know God, O poor one,

with true knowledge.

ولا ترجُ إلّا اللَه

وكن ذا وفا

And hope in none but God,

and be faithful.

ألم تعلم أنّ اللَه يحبُّ

الصّفا

Have you not learned that God loves

purity?

لا تقُل نساك في الظاهر والباطن

ما يزال يراك

Do not say he has forgotten you; in the outward and the inward,

he never ceases to see you.
