دارت علينا كؤوس من خمرهِ البالي

دارت علينا كؤوس من خمرهِ البالي

ولا تطيبُ النفوس إلّا بأمثالي

Cups of his aged wine went round among us.

Goblets of aged wine were passed around

And souls are gladdened only by the likes of me.

And nothing comforts the soul like me

دارَت علينا كؤوس

في حضرة المحبوب

في حضرة المحبوب

Cups went round among us

Goblets were passed around

In the presence of the beloved.

In the presence of the beloved

وأهلُ للماني جلوس

وأهلُ للماني جلوس

ومن دخل يشرَب

ومن دخل يشرَب

And the people of [meanings?] sit.

And it befits the afflicted to sit

And whoever enters drinks.

Whoever enters must drink

ولا تطيبُ النفوس

ولا تطيبُ النفوس

إلّا لمن يقربُ

إلّا لمن يقربُ

And souls are not gladdened

And nothing comforts the soul

Except for one who draws near.

بحر المعاني تغوص هذاك هو حالي

بحر المعاني تغوص هذاك هو حالي

ولا تطيبُ النفوس إلّا بأمثالي

You dive into the sea of meanings—such is my state.

Diving into the sea of meanings- such is my state

And souls are gladdened only by the likes of me.

And nothing comforts the soul except the likes of me

سقوني ساداتي

سقوني ساداتي

خمراً لها ألوانِ

خمراً لها ألوانِ

My masters gave me to drink

My masters gave me

Wine of many hues,

Wine of many hues

لتنقضي حاجاتي

لتنقضي حاجاتي

وحوائجُ الإخوان

وحوائجُ الإخوان

So that my needs might be fulfilled,

To fulfill my needs

And the needs of the brethren.

And the needs of the brethren

ومن حضر حضرَتي

ومن حضر حضرَتي

يظهر له البرهان

يظهر له البرهان

And whoever comes into my presence,

Whoever attends my gathering

The proof becomes manifest to him.

The proof becomes clear to him

شرَقت علينا الشموس في الوقتِ والحالِ

شرَقت علينا الشموس في الوقتِ والحالِ

ولا تطيبُ النفوس إلّا بأمثالي

ولا تطيبُ النفوس إلّا بأمثالي

The suns rose upon us in the moment and the spiritual state.

The sun shone upon us at that time

And souls are gladdened only by the likes of me.

And nothing comforts the soul except the likes of me

من خمرِ أهل التُقى

من خمرِ أهل التُقى

إسقوني يا ناس

إسقوني يا ناس

From the wine of the pious,

Give me to drink, O people

Give me drink, O people!

Wine of the people of piety

محفوفةٌ بالبقا

محفوفةٌ بالبقا

ممزوجةٌ في الكاس

ممزوجةٌ في الكاس

Enfolded in everlastingness,

Surrounded by eternity

Blended in the cup.

Mixed in the cup

منها شرب وارتقى

منها شرب وارتقى

He drank of it and ascended—

From it drank and ascended

ما هي بثمن الفلوس وقدرُها غالي

It is not priced in coins, and its worth is high.

It is not for a pittance, its worth is high

And souls are gladdened only by the likes of me.

And nothing comforts the soul except the likes of me

غرستُ في حضرتي

غرستُ في حضرتي

شجرةُ منَ التوحيد

شجرةُ منَ التوحيد

I planted in my presence

I planted in my presence

A tree of divine oneness.

A tree of monotheism

الأصلُ في قبضتي

الأصلُ في قبضتي

والفرعُ صار يزيد

والفرعُ صار يزيد

The root is in my grasp,

The root is in my grasp

And the branch began to grow.

And the branches grow more

ولا يجني ثمرتي

ولا يجني ثمرتي

إلّا ذووا التجريد

إلّا ذووا التجريد

And no one gathers my fruit

And none harvest my fruits

Except those free of attachments.

Except those stripped of all

وعلت فوقَ الرؤوس عزّاً وإجلالِ

وعلت فوقَ الرؤوس عزّاً وإجلالِ

ولا تطيبُ النفوس إلّا بأمثالي

ولا تطيبُ النفوس إلّا بأمثالي

And it rose above all heads, honored and revered.

It rose above the heads in honor and glory

And souls are gladdened only by the likes of me.

And nothing comforts the soul except the likes of me

نوصيك يا من حضر

نوصيك يا من حضر

لا تقربِ الشجرَ

لا تقربِ الشجرَ

I counsel you, O you who are present:

I advise you, O attendant

Do not approach the trees

Do not approach the tree

إلّا بلمحِ البصَر

إلّا بلمحِ البصَر

وصُحبةِ الفقرا

وصُحبةِ الفقرا

Except with a flash of sight

Except with a glance

And in the company of the poor.

And the companionship of poverty

إذا جنَيت الثمر

إذا جنَيت الثمر

من علَّتك تبرا

من علَّتك تبرا

When you gather the fruit,

When you harvest the fruit

You will recover from your ailment.

From your exaltation, you will be absolved

تجول بين الغروس عزّاً وإجلالِ

تجول بين الغروس عزّاً وإجلالِ

ولا تطيب النفوس إلّا بأمثالي

ولا تطيب النفوس إلّا بأمثالي

You roam among the planted trees, honored and revered.

Strolling between saplings in honor and glory

And souls are gladdened only by the likes of me.

And nothing comforts the soul except the likes of me
