O day of misery, whose sun has risen
O day of misery, your sun has risen
With ill fortune—may you never leave al-Ḥuḍayn's head!
With misfortune, you have not left the head of Al-Hudayn

Indeed, Ḥuḍayn has always been miserly,
Indeed Al-Hudayn has not ceased being good
Ever since he came to be, tightfisted in doing good.
Since he was generous with both hands
