ثلاثٌ يصيرُ الحرّ فيها مشرفاً

ويكرمُ في الأخرى بهنَّ وفي الدهرِ

Three things make a man honored:

Piety, knowledge, and wealth fairly earned.

فدينٌ وعلمٌ ثم مال يحوزه

وتنفعُه في حلّه طيب الأجرِ

The last helps him in times of trial;

His good deeds are his lasting wealth.
