يا أَوحَد الدَهر إِني قَد قَصدت حمىً

يا أَوحَد الدَهر إِني قَد قَصدت حمىً

مَن أَمَّه نال فَوقَ القَصد وَالأَملِ

مَن أَمَّه نال فَوقَ القَصد وَالأَملِ

O peerless one of the age, I have indeed sought a sanctuary

O Unique One of the age, I have set my sights upon an ambition

Where whoever comes gains beyond his aim and hope.

Whose fulfillment is beyond hope and expectation

فَامنن عَليّ بِتقديم القَصيد وَلا

فَامنن عَليّ بِتقديم القَصيد وَلا

تَقطَع رَجائي مِن التَشريف بِالحلل

تَقطَع رَجائي مِن التَشريف بِالحلل

So favor me by giving the ode precedence, and do not

So favor me by bestowing this ode and do not

Cut off my hope of being honored with robes.

Cut short my hopes of being honored with rewards

فَأَنتَ أَفضل مَن أَحيا بهمته

فَأَنتَ أَفضل مَن أَحيا بهمته

نَفس المُروءة بِالعرفان وَالعَمَل

نَفس المُروءة بِالعرفان وَالعَمَل

For you are the best of those whose resolve has revived

For you are the best one to revive with your resolve

The soul of chivalry through knowledge and deeds.

The spirit of excellence through knowledge and deed
