لَمّاwhen أَدَلَّgrew presumptuous أَمَلَّنيwearied me فَسَلَوتُهُso I ceased loving him
لَمّا أَدَلَّ أَمَلَّني فَسَلَوتُهُ
مَنwho ذاis it that يُدِلُّacts presumptuously فَلاso does not يَمَلَّgrow weary مُحِبُّهُhis lover
مَن ذا يُدِلُّ فَلا يَمَلَّ مُحِبُّهُ
When he grew presumptuous, he wearied me, so I ceased to love him.
Who acts presumptuously without his lover growing weary?
تَاللَهِby God ماnot اِتُّبِعَwas followed النَبِيُّthe Prophet مُحَمَّدٌMuhammad
تَاللَهِ ما اِتُّبِعَ النَبِيُّ مُحَمَّدٌ
لَوif كانَhe had been فَظّاًharsh أَوor غَليظاًhard قَلبُهُhis heart
لَو كانَ فَظّاً أَو غَليظاً قَلبُهُ
By God, the Prophet Muhammad would not have been followed
Had he been harsh or hard of heart.
