وَكَفَّand withheld عَنّاfrom us بَأسَthe fury of بَأسائِهِits hardships
وَكَفَّ عَنّا بَأسَ بَأسائِهِ
Time greeted us early with its joys,
The days blessed us with their joys,
And withheld from us the fury of its hardships.
And warded off their harms and annoys,
وَجاءَناand came to us أَيلولُSeptember مُستَبشِراًrejoicing
وَجاءَنا أَيلولُ مُستَبشِراً

يَثني عَلى الدَهرِ بِآلائِهِ
And September came to us rejoicing,
September came with glad tidings galore,
Praising Time for its blessings.
Singing the praises of time and its awards.

تُناسِبُ الرِقَّةَ في مائِهِ
Do you not see the softness in its air
Don’t you see the softness in its air?
Matching the softness in its water?
Matching the gentle flow of its waters fair,

Look at the many kinds of its fruit,
Look at the fruits of its trees diverse,
Which it has gathered in the coolness of its bosom.
Nestled in the cold of its hold traversed.

The east wind's breezes swept over them,
The breeze caressed them with whispered breath,
Nipping them in the coolness of its courtyards.
Nipping in the chill of its wintry wreath,

Do you not see the beauty of its Mullahi grapes,
Can’t you see, its sea is a beauty to laud,
Offered to the splendor of its Sha'ra' grapes?
A gift for the joy of the bard.

Look at its pomegranates laughing—
Look at its blushing pomegranate, laughing,
Its red ones in the face of its white ones.
Crimson cheeks amidst whiteness staffing.
