لَيسَis not حَدُّthe edge الحُسامِof the sword أَكفىmore effective وَأَغنىand more helpful
لَيسَ حَدُّ الحُسامِ أَكفى وَأَغنى
مِنthan أَخٍa brother ذيpossessing كِفايَةٍcompetence وَغِناءِand resourcefulness
مِن أَخٍ ذي كِفايَةٍ وَغِناءِ
The saber’s edge is no more effective or availing

يَعتَريهِ وَزينَةٌ في الرَخاءِ
And a man’s brother is his mainstay in an affliction
