مَلَأَfilled العُيونَthe eyes غَضارَةًlushness وَنَضارَةًand freshness
صَحوٌclear weather يُطالِعُناgreets us بِوَجهٍwith a face مونَقِlovely
The eyes were filled with lushness and freshness
by a clear day greeting us with a lovely face.
وَالشَمسُand the sun واضِحَةُradiant الجَبينِthe brow كَأَنَّهاas though it were
وَجهُthe face المَليحَةِof the lovely woman فيin الخِمارِthe veil الأَزرَقِblue
And the sun, its brow radiant, seems like
the face of a lovely woman in a blue veil.
وَكَأَنَّهاand as though it were عِندَat اِنبِساطِthe spreading شُعاعِهاof its rays
تِبرٌraw gold يَذوبُmelts عَلىover فُروعِthe boughs المَشرِقِof the east
And as its rays spread out, it seems like
raw gold melting over the boughs of the east.
جَرَّتit trailed إِذاwhen بَكَرَتit came at dawn ذُيولَthe skirts مُزَعفَرٍof a saffron-dyed robe
وَتَجُرُّand it trails إِذwhen راحَتit went at evening ذُيولَthe skirts مُمَشَّقِof a red-ochre-dyed robe
At dawn it trailed the skirts of a saffron-dyed robe,
and at evening it trails the skirts of one dyed red ochre.
فَشَرِبتُهاso I drank it عَذراءَvirgin مِنfrom يَدِthe hand مِثلِهاof one like it
تَحكيresembles الصَباحَthe dawn مَعَalongside الصَباحِthe dawn المُشرِقِradiant
So I drank it, virgin wine, from the hand of one like it,
mirroring the dawn beside the radiant dawn,

So look at the grass clustered there,
and look at the flowers scattered there.

It appears and hides in the pool, as though it were
an offender trying to appear while keeping wary.
فَإِلىso toward السُرورِjoy لَناfor us عَنانٌa rein مَطلَقٌlet loose
إِنَّindeed الفَوائِدِthe benefits فيin العَنانِthe rein المُطلَقِlet loose
So toward joy our rein is let loose;
indeed, the benefits lie in a rein let loose.
