    So welcome good fortune in a noble child,

    untainted by what disgraces humankind.

    A sun by day and a full moon by night,

    he captivates the eyes of those who behold him.

    He fills them with delight whenever

    he unveils his handsome face.

    تَكثُرُ عِلّاتُ عائِبيهِ

    I was blessed with him, perfect and well-formed;

    many are the faults of those who find fault with him.

    Sweet fruit, delicious to the taste,

    within easy reach of its gatherer's hand.

    يَشقى بِهِ جَدُّ كاشِحيهِ

    And before long he will become a gallant man;

    through him his enemies' fortunes will suffer.

    Ah, then live assured of good fortune,

    until you see gray hair among his sons.
