زَيَّنوهُ بُدُرِّهِ وَجُمانِه
Pour it for me, while night is a bride’s tresses,
Pour it for me, though night is a bride's tresses,
which they adorned with its pearls and silver beads.
Adorned with its moon and sparkling stars,
وَكَأَنَّand as though الجَوزاءَOrion حينَwhen تَهاوَتit sank
وَكَأَنَّ الجَوزاءَ حينَ تَهاوَت
فارِسٌa horseman مالَleaned عَنaway from سَراةِthe back of حِصانِهhis steed
فارِسٌ مالَ عَن سَراةِ حِصانِه
And Orion, as it sank, seemed
As if, when the raven tumbled down,
a horseman leaning off his steed’s back.
A horseman slid off his mare’s saddle.
