Look at the desert, how it has adorned itself,

And at the rainclouds' tears, how they stream.

And on the hills are robes embroidered by the rain:

Some arrow-patterned, some gold-embroidered, some striped.

And there the rains' garments are fine silk,

And there the dew's resting places are ornaments.

The winds whispered tales about the gardens—

Tales that reminded you of camphor when dissolved.

And on the slopes, a robe of daisies,

And on the uplands, a bordered cloak of anemones.

And the clouds are fluffed up by the winds at evening,

Like cotton carded amid blue garments.

And the rain pours down, pure white,

And becomes a torrent, dust-gray and dusky.

And lightning flashes like a sword unsheathed,

And the torrent flows like a crawling snake.

Its gap-toothed and crimson-stained forms captivate you,

And its straight, crooked, and slender forms.
