إِن كُنتَ تَسلَمُ مِن شَغبِ الزَمانِ وَلا

إِن كُنتَ تَسلَمُ مِن شَغبِ الزَمانِ وَلا

أُعطى السَلامَةَ مِنهُ كُلَّما شَغِبا

أُعطى السَلامَةَ مِنهُ كُلَّما شَغِبا

If you escape the turmoil of time, while I am not

granted safety from it whenever it rages,

فَالعاصِفاتُ إِذا مَرَّت عَلى شَجَرٍ

فَالعاصِفاتُ إِذا مَرَّت عَلى شَجَرٍ

حَطَمنَهُ وَتَرَكنَ البَقلَ وَالعُشبا

حَطَمنَهُ وَتَرَكنَ البَقلَ وَالعُشبا

it is because storm winds, when they pass over trees,

shatter them and leave the herbs and grass.
