Give me wine to drink, while night is a bride’s tress;
Give it to me to drink, while night is a bride’s long hair,
they have decked it with its pearls and its beads.
which they have adorned with its pearls and pearl beads.
وَكَأَنَّand as though الجَوزاءَOrion حينَwhen تَهاوَتit sank
وَكَأَنَّ الجَوزاءَ حينَ تَهاوَت
فارِسٌa horseman مالَleaned عَنaway from سَراةِthe back of حِصانِهhis horse
فارِسٌ مالَ عَن سَراةِ حِصانِه
And it is as though Orion, when it sank,
And Orion, as it sank, was like
were a horseman leaning from the back of his steed.
a horseman leaning away from his horse’s back.
