لا تَعتَمِدَ نَشرَ العُيوبِ وَبَثَّها

لا تَعتَمِدَ نَشرَ العُيوبِ وَبَثَّها

يَسلَم لَكَ الإِخوانُ وَالأَصحابُ

يَسلَم لَكَ الإِخوانُ وَالأَصحابُ

Do not make a practice of exposing faults and spreading them,

Do not deliberately publicize faults and spread them.

so your brethren and companions remain on good terms with you.

Your brothers and companions will remain yours.

وَاِشدُد يَدَيكَ بِما يَقِلُّ مَعابَهُ

وَاِشدُد يَدَيكَ بِما يَقِلُّ مَعابَهُ

ما فيهِم مَن لَيسَ فيهِ مُعابُ

ما فيهِم مَن لَيسَ فيهِ مُعابُ

And hold fast with both hands to one whose faults are few—

And hold fast with both hands to what has few faults.

for no one exists who is without a fault.

Not one among them is without a flaw.
