وَحَيَّةٍand a serpent فيin رَأسِهاher head دُرَّهa pearl
وَحَيَّةٍ في رَأسِها دُرَّه
تَعمَلُshe makes فيon وَجهِthe face of الدُجىdarkness غُرَّهa white blaze
تَعمَلُ في وَجهِ الدُجى غُرَّه
And a serpent with a pearl in her head
With a snake in her head as a crown
Makes a white blaze on the face of darkness.
She prowls in the dark of night with a frown
وَجنَتُهاher cheek أَكبَرُlarger مِنthan رَأسِهاher head
وَجنَتُها أَكبَرُ مِن رَأسِها
فَهيَso she إِذاwhen أَبصَرتَهاyou behold her عِبرَهa lesson
فَهيَ إِذا أَبصَرتَها عِبرَه

يَردَفُهاfollows her أَصفَرُa yellow one فيwithin أَصفَرِyellow
يَردَفُها أَصفَرُ في أَصفَرِ
يَقدُمُهاgoes before her أَسوَدُa black one فيwithin حُمرَهredness
يَقدُمُها أَسوَدُ في حُمرَه
A yellow one within yellow follows her;

A black one within redness goes before her.
