وَجامِعَةٍ لِأَصنافِ المَعاني

وَجامِعَةٍ لِأَصنافِ المَعاني

صَلَحنَ لِوَقتِ إِكثارٍ وَقِلَّه

صَلَحنَ لِوَقتِ إِكثارٍ وَقِلَّه

And a collection uniting diverse qualities,

Suited to times of plenty and scarcity:

فَمِن أَدَمٍ وَرَيحانٍ وَنُقلٍ

فَمِن أَدَمٍ وَرَيحانٍ وَنُقلٍ

فَلَم يُرَ مِثلَها سَدّاً لِخِلَّه

فَلَم يُرَ مِثلَها سَدّاً لِخِلَّه

Among them are relishes, fragrant herbs, and snacks;

Nothing like it has been seen for meeting a need.

فَإِحداهُنَّ تَبرُزُ في عِباءٍ

فَإِحداهُنَّ تَبرُزُ في عِباءٍ

وَأُخراهُنَّ في حِبَرٍ وَحِلَّه

وَأُخراهُنَّ في حِبَرٍ وَحِلَّه

One of them comes forth in a coarse cloak,

And another in striped cloth and a fine robe.

وَمِنها ما تُشَبِّهُهُ بُدوراً

وَمِنها ما تُشَبِّهُهُ بُدوراً

فَإِن قَطَّعتَها رَجِعَت أَهِلَّه

فَإِن قَطَّعتَها رَجِعَت أَهِلَّه

Among them is what you liken to full moons;

Then, if you cut it up, it turns back into crescents.
