ياO ابنson of المدبِّرal-Mudabbir أنتyou عَلَّمتَyou taught الورىhumankind
يا ابن المدبِّر أنت عَلَّمتَ الورى
بذلَbestowing النوالِbounty وهمwhile they بهِwith it بخلاءُstingy
بذلَ النوالِ وهم بهِ بخلاءُ
O son of al-Mudabbir, you taught all humankind
O Ibn al-Mudabbir, you taught humankind
to bestow bounty—though they are miserly with it.
To bestow bounty, though they are stingy with it.
لوif كانthere were مثلكlike you فيamong البريةhumankind آخرanother
لو كان مثلك في البرية آخر
فيin الجودgenerosity لمnot يكbe بينهمamong them فقراءُpoor people
في الجود لم يك بينهم فقراءُ
Had there been another like you among creation,
If there were another like you among humankind
in generosity, no poor would remain between you two.
In generosity, there would be no poor among them.
