O noble brother, to the wine—we desire it,

O generous brother, we want more wine

as delight upon the delight already within it.

Pure, to add to the pure that's in the cup

راحٌ كأنَّ مزاجها مما بها

راحٌ كأنَّ مزاجها مما بها

بتلهب في كأسها يغريها

بتلهب في كأسها يغريها

Wine, as though its admixture, from what is within it,

Relaxed, as though its nature suited her

were urging it to blaze inside its cup.

Ablaze in her glass, tempting her

هَزَّت لسورتها الرؤوس وأنها

هَزَّت لسورتها الرؤوس وأنها

لتغادر الرجل الحليم سفيها

لتغادر الرجل الحليم سفيها

It shook heads with its potency, and indeed it

Heads swayed to the melody she sang

surely leaves the prudent man a fool.

Yet the wise man remains composed
