Have you not seen Fatḥ, and what befell him
Have you not seen Fath and what befell him
from illness and the raging phlegm?
From illness and raging phlegm?
رماهُhe shot him المبرِّدُal-Mubarrid منfrom بَردِهِhis chill
رماهُ المبرِّدُ من بَردِهِ
بسهمٍwith an arrow فقُرطِسَand he was struck squarely بالفالجwith paralysis
بسهمٍ فقُرطِسَ بالفالج
Al-Mubarrad, out of his chill, shot him
Al-Mubarrid shot him, from his chill,
with an arrow that struck home—as palsy.
With an arrow, and he was struck squarely with paralysis.
