كَم أَتلَفت مُهَجاً مِنا وَكَم يعزِزن
The oryxes’ eyes press the lovelorn heart toward youthful passion.
The eyes of the doe are for youth, the heart of the courageous quivers
How many souls of ours they have destroyed, and how unapproachable they are!
How many passions of ours have perished, and how many quiver
يَهزُزنَthey brandish سُمرَdusky القَناthe spears ياoh حُسنَthe beauty ماof what يَهزُزنthey brandish
يَهزُزنَ سُمرَ القَنا يا حُسنَ ما يَهزُزن

They brandish dusky spears—oh, the beauty of what they brandish!
They shake the darkness of spears, O beauty, how they quiver
When they thrust them into my heart, they cut deep.
When they stab into my heart, they quiver
