أَسُهادٌ وَأَدمُعٌ وَزَفيرُ

أَسُهادٌ وَأَدمُعٌ وَزَفيرُ

بَعضُ هَذا عَلى المُحبِّ كَثيرُ

بَعضُ هَذا عَلى المُحبِّ كَثيرُ

Sleeplessness, tears, and sighing?

Even some of this is much for a lover.

ما تَذَكَّرتُ وَصلَ حُبّيَ إِلّا

ما تَذَكَّرتُ وَصلَ حُبّيَ إِلّا

كادَ قَلبي شَوقاً إِلَيهِ يَطيرُ

كادَ قَلبي شَوقاً إِلَيهِ يَطيرُ

Whenever I recalled union with my beloved,

my heart nearly flew toward him in longing.

سَكَنوهُ وَأَودَعُوهُ غَراماً

سَكَنوهُ وَأَودَعُوهُ غَراماً

عَجَباً فيهِ جَنَّةٌ وَسَعيرُ

عَجَباً فيهِ جَنَّةٌ وَسَعيرُ

They dwelt in it and placed passion there.

How wondrous! Within it are a paradise and a blazing fire.
