يَومُنا يُشبهُ أَمسِ

يَومُنا يُشبهُ أَمسِ

مثلما نُصبِحُ نمسي

مثلما نُصبِحُ نمسي

Our day resembles yesterday;

As we are in the morning, so we are in the evening.

إِنَّ هَذي لحياةٌ

إِنَّ هَذي لحياةٌ

ما تُساوي عُشرَ فلسِ

ما تُساوي عُشرَ فلسِ

Indeed, this is a life

Not worth a tenth of a fils.

فَمَتى يُنقلُ شَخصٌ

فَمَتى يُنقلُ شَخصٌ

آمِناً لِدارِ قُدسِ

آمِناً لِدارِ قُدسِ

So when will a person be taken

Safely to an abode of holiness,

لِجنانٍ غالياتٍ

لِجنانٍ غالياتٍ

عَريت مِن كُلِّ بُؤسِ

عَريت مِن كُلِّ بُؤسِ

To precious gardens,

Free of every misery,

ما تَلَذُّ العَينُ فيها

ما تَلَذُّ العَينُ فيها

وَاشتَهتهُ كُلُّ نَفسِ

وَاشتَهتهُ كُلُّ نَفسِ

Where there is what delights the eye

And what every soul has desired,

مَعَ وِلدان وَحورٍ

مَعَ وِلدان وَحورٍ

قاصِراتِ الطرفِ نفسِ

قاصِراتِ الطرفِ نفسِ

With youths and fair-eyed maidens,

Precious ones who restrain their gaze?

لَم يَكن لَهُنَّ طَمثٌ

لَم يَكن لَهُنَّ طَمثٌ

لا بِجِنٍّ لا وَإِنسِ

لا بِجِنٍّ لا وَإِنسِ

They have never been deflowered,

Not by jinn, nor by humans.

عُرُبٌ أَبكارُ حُسنٍ

عُرُبٌ أَبكارُ حُسنٍ

أنس لَيسَت بِشَمسِ

أنس لَيسَت بِشَمسِ

Affectionate, beautiful virgins,

Companionable, not aloof.

نُورُهنَّ الدَهرَ باقٍ

نُورُهنَّ الدَهرَ باقٍ

لا كَبَدرٍ لا وَشَمسِ

لا كَبَدرٍ لا وَشَمسِ

Their light endures for all time,

Unlike the full moon or the sun.

هنَّ مِن إِيجادِ ربّي

هنَّ مِن إِيجادِ ربّي

أنشِئت مِن غَير جِنسِ

أنشِئت مِن غَير جِنسِ

They are my Lord's creation,

Brought forth from no stock.
