أَعَين حَياتي وَالَّذي بِبَقائِهِ

بَقائي لَقَد أَصبَحت نَحوَك شَيِّقا

بَقائي لَقَد أَصبَحت نَحوَك شَيِّقا

O wellspring of my life, and you whose continued life

O eyes of my life, by whose existence

sustains my own: I have grown full of longing for you.

My existence remains, towards you I yearn.

أَقَمتَ بِقَلبي غَيرَ أَنَّ لِمُقلَتي

أَقَمتَ بِقَلبي غَيرَ أَنَّ لِمُقلَتي

بِرُؤيتكَ الحَظَّ الَّذي يُذهِبُ الشَقا

بِرُؤيتكَ الحَظَّ الَّذي يُذهِبُ الشَقا

You have made your home in my heart, yet my eye

You made your home in my heart, though for my glance

finds in seeing you the good fortune that dispels misery.

The fortune of seeing you takes away sorrow.

وَما كانَ ظَنّي أَنك الدَهرَ تارِكي

وَما كانَ ظَنّي أَنك الدَهرَ تارِكي

وَلَو أَنَّني أَصبحتُ بَينَ الوَرى لَقا

وَلَو أَنَّني أَصبحتُ بَينَ الوَرى لَقا

And I never thought that you would ever forsake me,

I never thought you'd forsake me,

even if I became a worthless castoff among humankind.

And if between people I became seen, a meeting would transpire.

لَطائفُ مَعنىً في العِيان ولَم تَكُن

لَطائفُ مَعنىً في العِيان ولَم تَكُن

لِتُدرك إلا بِالتَزاوُرِ وَاللِقا

لِتُدرك إلا بِالتَزاوُرِ وَاللِقا

There are subtleties of meaning in direct sight, and they could not

Subtleties of meaning in seeing you there were not,

be grasped except through mutual visits and meeting.

To be realized except through visitation and encounter.
