راضَtamed حَبيبيmy beloved عارِضٌcheek-down قَدalready بَداappeared
راضَ حَبيبي عارِضٌ قَد بَدا
ياoh حُسنَهُits beauty مِنof عارِضٍcheek-down رائضِtaming
يا حُسنَهُ مِن عارِضٍ رائضِ
New down on his cheeks has tamed my beloved.
How lovely it is—this down that tames!
وَظَنَّand thought قَومٌsome people أَنَّthat قَلبيmy heart سَلاceased to love
وَظَنَّ قَومٌ أَنَّ قَلبي سَلا
وَالأَصلُand the essential لاnot يَعتَدُّtakes account بِالعارِضِof the incidental
وَالأَصلُ لا يَعتَدُّ بِالعارِضِ
And some people thought my heart had ceased to love,
yet the essential takes no account of the incidental.
