I see every lowly pauper, when he gains wealth,
grow haughty over his clothes and his fine mule.
يَرىhe thinks أَنَّهُthat he قَدindeed جَلَّhas grown grand فيin أعيُنِthe eyes of الوَرىpeople
وَماyet not هُوَhe إلاanything but البَغلُthe mule قَدindeed جَلَّhas grown grand بِالجلِّby the saddlecloth
He thinks he has grown grand in people's eyes,
yet he is only a mule made grand by its saddlecloth.
